I started Broke&Mental because I was tired of pretending.
Tired of answering "how are you?" with "yeah good thanks" when the truth was the opposite. Tired of scrolling past mental health awareness posts that felt performative — nice words on a screen that didn't actually do anything.
I wanted something real. Something you could wear that said what you were actually feeling without having to explain yourself. Something that started conversations instead of avoiding them.
That's what Broke&Mental is. Streetwear for the ones who are still here — the ones who are honest about the fact that they're struggling, and who refuse to pretend otherwise.
Every piece we make is built around that idea. The Heart & Brain logo — half heart, half brain, both broken — is the visual version of what it feels like when your emotions and your mind are at war with each other. If you know, you know.
And because talking about mental health shouldn't just be a slogan on a hoodie, a portion of every purchase goes to mental health charities. We're working with R U OK? to support the people and organisations doing the actual work on the ground.
This brand isn't about having it figured out. It's about being honest about the fact that you don't — and wearing that honesty like armour.
If that resonates with you, welcome. You're in the right place.
